What's going on at an Episcopal church in New Hartford, CT,
Where the Gospel is good news for all people.
Located between Satan's Kingdom and the Pleasant Valley.
Thanks to Susan Read Stanton for the pumpkin shot! All those faces make me think of the saints -- how they come in all sorts of shapes and sizes and looking both ordinary and special -- and most importantly just like themselves.
This cartoon is from What’s the Funny Look on Your Faith? by Cuyler Black, who is a volunteer youth minister at St. Stephen's in Ridgefield. His work is meant to appeal to young people, but the rest of us can enjoy it, too.
This wonderful shot of the Gill Garden was taken by Pat Ward, the parish administrator. It is also included in the Lions Club card set. We are luck to have the garden, to have someone who, among her many other talents, takes great pictures, and to be able to help the Lions fight macular degeneration, which has taken the sight of several of our parishioners and probably millions of senior citizens!
The New Hartford Lions Club has put out a set of cards showing sights around town at different times of the year. It's fun to have this shot of the church in January as part of the set. And the Lions Club project of seeking a cure for age-related macular degneration is surely a worthy project.
Check the next posting to see another St. John's picture in the set!!
In case you're a bit confused, this picture was taken in 2005! This year's scheduled blessing was a complete washout. However, there are rumors that a few pets need blessing before October 7, 2007. So if you and your animal friend feel that need, house calls are available. That is, the calls are at your house not mine.
